For my final video💕, I’m going to need actual actresses and actors, and since I’m not planning to appear much on camera myself, I reached out to some of my friends to help me out as free volunteer actors. Even though I’m managing this project completely on my own, I made sure to conduct interviews with each of them. This step is really important because it allows me to understand their abilities, availability, and how they can contribute to my project, ensuring that I stay organized and in control of the entire process.
For example, I already asked my best friend to play the main character. I conducted a detailed interview with her to assess her skills, comfort level on camera, and commitment to the project. Some of the questions I asked her included:
• What’s your name, age, gender, and favorite color?
• What characteristics do you expect from the director during filming?
• Are you able to cry convincingly on camera?
• Could you laugh uncontrollably if a scene requires it?
• Could you act out of your mind in specific scenes?
• Do you have a flexible schedule to a ccommodate filming?
• Is your mom able to drive you to filming locations if needed?
• Are you allergic to any foods or substances that could affect filming?
• What is your goal, or what do you hope to gain by participating in this project?
• Are you willing to commit seriously and follow through with the project?
(THE THREE QUESTIONS IN DIF FONTS ARE TWO INDEPENDENT QUESTIONS ONLY FOR HER,MY MAIN CHARACTER)

I also interviewed friends who might serve as background or secondary characters. While some of the questions were similar to those for the main character, I adjusted them for their roles. These included:
• What is your full name, age, and gender?
• What characteristics do you expect from the director during filming?
• Do you have a flexible schedule to participate in filming?
• Is your mom able to drive you to locations if needed?
• Are you allergic to any foods or substances that could affect filming?
• What is your goal, or what do you hope to gain by participating in this project?
• Are you willing to commit seriously and follow through with the project?

My dear friend douglas took the time to edit and record his video with lots of love, i very much apprecieted that !
Conducting these interviews allows me to plan carefully, understand each actor’s strengths and limitations, and anticipate any challenges before filming begins. Even though I’m leading this project entirely on my own, this process ensures that everyone involved is prepared, and it reinforces my role as the project leader. By taking the time to organize, communicate, and gather information, I’m setting myself up to create a well-executed, professional final project.

I want to explain some of the ideas and visions i have for my two minute film˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀
˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀for my two minute video i want to play with different styles that mix together to show the fast life she’s living i want it to feel like everything around her is spinning and she’s losing control her emotions are changing so fast that it almost feels like the camera can’t even keep up with her i want to show how her world switches from calm and soft to loud and chaotic in just seconds the beginning will move slower so people can really feel her emotions and see how fragile she is but when the main problem starts and everything falls apart i want the rhythm to get faster like her thoughts are racing and she can’t breathe anymore i want to include flashes of color that change from gray and dark to bright and full of light almost like she’s slipping between reality and memory i want it to feel like she’s remembering moments that once made her happy but now they just haunt her there’s going to be a part where it looks like she’s seeing me like i’m standing there but it’s only in her imagination because i already died it’s more like she’s chasing something that’s gone i want the whole sequence to look dreamy and messy at the same time like her emotions are painting the scene for her everything will blend together to make people feel what she’s feeling without even needing words
˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀ i’ve also decided that at the end i don’t want to use any music. i want to start the opening with a few different songs that capture her emotions and the changes in her world, but since it’s only a two‑minute film, i obviously can’t fit seven songs in that would be way too chaotic and confusing for the audience. instead, i think using one, two, or maybe three songs at most will work better to create the right atmosphere and rhythm. but at the end, when the main character is about to jump from the building, i don’t want any sound at all. i want everything to stop no music, no background noise, just silence. i want that silence to feel heavy, like time freezes, so the audience can really imagine what’s about to happen and feel the weight of that moment without anything distracting them.˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀

Today's movie
🎀
The Virgin Suicides (1999) directed by Sofia CoppolaFor this section, I picked The Virgin Suicides, which is honestly one of the most beautifully haunting movies I’ve ever seen. It’s dark, dreamy, and tragic, but it’s also incredibly emotional and visually stunning. The story follows the Lisbon sisters, five teenage girls growing up in a strict household in the 1970s, and it’s told through the perspective of the neighborhood boys who are obsessed with them. I love how Sofia Coppola captures youth, desire, nostalgia, and isolation all at once. The movie feels like a soft, sad dream that you can’t stop thinking about, and every detail from music to lighting to costumes is perfectly intentional 💗🖤🌸
It is not important how the Lisbon sisters looked. What is important is how the teenage boys in the neighborhood thought they looked. Since its all from their perspective.
There is a time in the adolescent season of every boy when a particular girl seems to have materialized in his dreams, with backlighting from heaven. Sofia Coppola’s “The Virgin Suicides” is narrated by an adult who speaks for “we”–for all the boys in a Michigan suburban neighborhood 25 years ago, who loved and lusted after the Lisbon girls. We know from the title and the opening words that the girls killed themselves. Most of the reviews have focused on the girls. They miss the other subject–the gawky, insecure yearning of the boys
Shot in 1998 in Toronto, it features an original score by the French electronic band Air. The film marked the first collaboration between Sofia Coppola and Kirsten Dunst, whom Coppola later cast as the lead in several of her subsequent films.
The Virgin Suicides premiered at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival and received a limited theatrical release on April 21, 2000, in the United States, later expanding to a wide release in May 19, 2000. The film earned largely positive reviews from critics, with the performances of the cast, Coppola's direction, visual style, and soundtrack receiving praise. It was also acclaimed for its lyrical representation of adolescent angst, and is recognized as a cult classic.[3]
In 2015, the film ranked number 39 on Entertainment Weekly's list of the "50 Best High School Movies".[4]
Music & Sound: The soundtrack by Air is one of my favorite parts. It’s soft, ethereal, and completely dreamy. The music floats over every scene like a gentle haze, making the story feel like it’s happening in a memory or a dream. It’s nostalgic but also sad, which fits perfectly with the Lisbon sisters’ world. Even little sound details, like the ticking of clocks, creaking floors, birds chirping, and the distant hum of suburban life, make everything feel intimate and alive. The soundscape makes you feel the loneliness, curiosity, and obsession from both the girls’ and the boys’ perspectives 🎶💫🕊️
Lighting: The lighting is stunning and magical. Most of the movie uses warm, soft tones with a golden glow, especially during sunsets or in the girls’ house. It feels nostalgic, romantic, and almost like a memory you can’t touch. Inside the Lisbon house, the lighting is dimmer, softer, and cooler, reflecting the girls’ isolation and the suffocating atmosphere created by their parents. The way light shifts between warm and cold mirrors the emotional highs and lows of the story, making it both beautiful and sad ✨🌅🖤
Editing: The editing is subtle but really enhances the dreamy, slow-moving pace of the film. Scenes often linger a little longer than expected, letting you soak in the atmosphere, the expressions, and the little details in each frame. The way scenes flow together feels like a memory being recalled sometimes hazy, sometimes painfully vivid. The pacing lets you feel the quiet intensity of the sisters’ lives and the obsession of the boys watching them 🎞️💗💫
Mise-en-scène (setting, props, costumes): Everything in this movie is so intentional and full of meaning. The suburban neighborhood feels ordinary at first, but every detail the front lawns, the bikes, the tree-lined streets, the houses is carefully chosen to create a nostalgic, dreamlike setting. Inside the Lisbon home, everything is muted and restrained, showing how controlled and confined the girls’ lives are. Their costumes are soft, pastel, and girly, giving them this ethereal, almost angelic quality. Even small props, like handwritten notes, diaries, and letters, are important, showing the girls’ inner lives, secrets, and longing for freedom 🌸🕊️💖
Acting & Body Language: The performances are subtle and beautiful. Kirsten Dunst as Lux Lisbon is especially captivating her expressions, gestures, and body language show a mix of longing, sadness, and desire to break free. Every sister has a distinct personality, and the way they move, speak, and interact with each other gives you an intimate sense of who they are. The boys’ perspective adds another layer their fascination and obsession make the story feel dreamy, tragic, and slightly surreal. Watching the girls’ quiet moments of rebellion, sadness, and joy is heartbreaking and mesmerizing 💗😢🖤
Opening & Titles: The opening is simple but effective. The movie immediately establishes the nostalgic, dreamy tone through music, imagery, and narration. The title The Virgin Suicides appears softly, understated, and elegant, which perfectly fits the delicate, haunting mood of the film. From the first frame, you feel like you’re stepping into a memory, a soft and sad world that is both beautiful and tragic 🎀✨
Cinematography & Visual Style: The cinematography is soft, painterly, and full of visual poetry. Sofia Coppola uses slow tracking shots, wide frames, and careful composition to make each scene feel like a painting. Close-ups of the girls, their expressions, and little details in the house or neighborhood make the story feel intimate and personal. The colors are pastel, muted, and dreamy, creating this perfect nostalgic vibe that’s beautiful but also sad like looking at a memory you can’t go back to 🌸💗🌅
Themes & Emotional Impact: The Virgin Suicides is about youth, isolation, desire, and tragedy. It’s about how the world can feel so beautiful and full of longing, yet also so suffocating and cruel. Watching the sisters’ lives unfold is heartbreaking, and the movie leaves you thinking about them long after it’s over. It’s emotional, nostalgic, and haunting in a way that feels very personal. Every detail music, lighting, acting, costumes, and cinematography comes together to make the story feel alive, intimate, and unforgettable 💗🖤🌸🔥
Overall, The Virgin Suicides is a soft, tragic, and mesmerizing film. It’s dreamy, nostalgic, and heartbreaking, but it’s also visually stunning and deeply emotional. Every element music, lighting, editing, acting, costumes, and settings works perfectly to make you feel the world of the Lisbon sisters. It’s a movie that stays in your heart and mind, like a beautiful, bittersweet memory, soft and sad but completely unforgettable 💗🕊️🌸✨🩰
