Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii againnn ༊*·˚so today, for this blog, I’m actually really excited, like genuinely excited, because I finally started getting into the editing part of my project.

Editing is something I’ve been doing for literally most of my life. I started editing pictures, videos, and random stuff when I was around six years old. I’ve always liked playing around with visuals, adding things, changing things, and just seeing how much you can transform something with editing alone.

༊*·˚I’ve always been really interested in technology, even though I’m not gonna lie and say I’m perfect with computers. I’m not. But I am getting better, and that’s something I’ve worked on a lot. The thing is, I was raised in Cuba, and - ͙۪۪̥˚┊❛ ❜┊˚ ͙۪۪̥◌growing up there meant we didn’t really have access to technology like that. No constant internet, no fancy devices, nothing like that. So I was pretty limited growing up, and I think that actually made me want to learn even more once I ༊*·˚finally had the chance.

Over time, I taught myself a lot, and that’s honestly why my blogs, presentations, and projects always end up looking really cutesy and intentional. Editing just feels natural to me. It’s one of the few parts of filmmaking where I feel like I really know what I’m doing, and that’s why this editing plan is so important. Editing is what’s going to build my video. Without it, the project would just feel empty.༊*·˚

this edit was for the instagram of the club that im the most active in!! Everyone loved it! i also did durig my birthday so i was rushing it.
Personally, I really believe that editing can either make a video amazing or completely ruin it. You could film with the best camera ever, have perfect acting, perfect lighting, everything done right  but if the editing is bad, the whole thing feels messy and wrong. ༊*·˚

If the sounds don’t match, if the pacing is weird, or if the transitions feel awkward, the video just feels trashy. Transitions are honestly one of the hardest parts because if you don’t do them correctly, you can mess up the entire project. One bad transition can ruin the mood completely 😭

his videos are in fact awesomeeee!!!, and i do use transitions very often in his videos. Angelo, the owner of the yt chanel, my boss, he likes the videos to be simple too..

- ͙۪۪̥˚┊❛ ❜┊˚ ͙۪۪̥◌- ͙۪۪̥˚┊❛ ❜┊˚ ͙۪۪̥◌

That’s why I’m planning on sticking to very subtle transitions or classic ones, bc i know whats better. Things like fade-to-black, opening and closing frames, or short black screens between scenes. I don’t want anything too flashy or distracting. I want the editing to support the story, not overpower it.

a video on transitions  , this video gave me multiple ideas😜

I’m going to put a video below that really inspires me, especially for the jumping scene. The video uses quick black flashes that give you a second  even if it’s less than a second  to process what just happened. It gives the moment weight without dragging it out, and I honestly love that. I think it’s kind of magical in a dark way, and I really want to capture that feeling in my project ✨🖤

Scene 1 – Establishing the World 🎞️'*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*'

Scene one is going to start with an establishing shot of the location where I’m filming, which is Cauley Square. It’s super cute and honestly fits the vibe perfectly. The camera is going to move around and show the environment, and I’m planning on using loud, dramatic music at the beginning. I’ve been thinking about classical or orchestral music, but that’s something I’ll talk about more in the next blog 👀 no spoilers yet.

One of the most important editing elements in this scene is the text. Things like “Produced by,” cast names, and credits are going to appear early on. I really love when films do that because it makes everything feel more intentional and professional. For the font, I’m definitely using something soft and artistic, like a handwriting or ballerina-style font. She’s a doll, and everything needs to feel delicate, pretty, and slightly ༊*·˚unsettling at the same time.

The title “UNLACED” is going to appear pretty early too. When the camera shows her table, lace is going to be thrown across it, and the camera will move slightly so the title appears through the lace. I really love that detail because it feels subtle but meaningful. It’s not just text on a screen  it’s part of the scene

The transition from scene one to scene two is also really important. That’s when she takes the pills, and that’s where the shift starts happening, even if the audience doesn’t fully realize it yet.

༊*·˚

Scene 2 – Calm Before Everything Breaks'*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*'

Scene two doesn’t need a lot of editing. I actually want this scene to feel very natural and uninterrupted. I’m planning on making it a running scene with no cuts, starting with her sitting at her computer and slowly revealing her entire room. The camera will follow her until she stands up and walks toward the mirror.

Because it’s one continuous movement, the editing here will stay very minimal. I want it to feel calm, almost too calm, before everything starts falling apart later

༊*·˚

Scene 3 – The Mirror Scene '*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*'

Scene three is where editing becomes crucial. This is the mirror scene, and this is where everything starts to break. Her reflection changes, her appearance deteriorates, and the editing needs to make that believable.

Since this is a Cambridge project, I’m not allowed to use footage or images that I didn’t take myself, but I am allowed to use effects. I’ll need those effects to create the illusion of another version of her inside the mirror. My plan is to film two versions of the same scene one of her in front of the mirror and one separately  and then layer them together in ༊*·˚editing.

The background needs to stay completely still so the illusion works, and that’s something I need to be really careful about. I’m going to research how filmmakers create reflection illusions and link a video below that explains how people edit mirror scenes where the reflection doesn’t match reality.

There will also be editing involved when she’s pulling her hair and screaming, while the real version of her stays grounded and quiet. That contrast is really important to me.

I’m also going to show examples of edits I’ve done before. Not to brag, but to show that I’m confident in my editing skills. I know what I’m doing. I’m not perfect, but I’m definitely not a disaster when it comes to editing 😭✨

this mirror scene has to have research on editing soo:

i did the research above to make sure i do my maximum effort in those videos!

Transition Into Scene 4'*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*'

Right now, I imagine the transition from scene three to scene four as the screen going completely dark after she collapses. Then, the next location appears  the jumping scene.

Scene 4 – Final Moment'*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*'

This scene is pretty simple editing-wise. Once you see the inspiration link below, it makes sense immediately. The jumping scene is inspired by Misa Amane from Death Note, especially the use of black screens and pacing. The editing style will be very similar, even though my character is completely different. Their backstories are not the same at all, but that’s something I’ll talk about in another blog.

At the end of this blog, I’m going to include examples of edits I’ve done in the past so you can see what I’m capable of.

༊*·˚

I don’t really post my edits online, but I still put a lot of work into them. Right now, I’m mostly focused on editing for blogs, Canva presentations, and school projects  things that actually matter for this class.

I’m also going to show the fonts I plan on using. I’m a template girl, and I’m not ashamed of that 😭 Templates exist for a reason. They’re made by people who know what they’re doing. I could do everything from scratch, but if I can save time and still get the result I want, I will.

༊*·˚

- ͙۪۪̥˚┊❛ ❜┊˚ ͙۪۪̥◌

- ͙۪۪̥˚┊❛ ❜┊˚ ͙۪۪̥◌

The fonts I chose are soft, handwritten, and artistic. Fonts can completely change the mood of a project, and I didn’t want anything that felt robotic or too modern. A handwriting-style font feels personal, fragile, and emotional  exactly what this project needs.

༊*·˚

This blog might not be the longest one, but it’s one of the most important ones to me, because editing is what brings everything together

༊*·˚

Reflection 🩰✨

Planning out the editing for this project made me realize how important this part really is. Editing isn’t just about putting clips together  it’s about emotion, timing, and how the audience experiences the story.

This blog helped me feel more confident in my vision and reminded me why I love editing so much. Even though it’s stressful, it’s also exciting, because this is where everything - ͙۪۪̥˚┊❛ ❜┊˚ ͙۪۪̥◌starts to feel real.

this blog has come to an enddddd .·:*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·.
